Classified X is documentary movie narrated by Melvin Van Peebles as he analyses the ever-growing importance of new black film makers and the emerging independent Black cinema. Black Film makers wanted to portray African-Americans as ordinary, successful people in comparison to the negative imagery that hollywood has been using to marginalise Black peoples existence. Melvin identifies the struggles that film makers and society had in their attempt to bring dignity to the screen for African-Americans.
